Trust In A Relationship - A Leap Of Faith

Trust In A Relationship - A Leap Of Faith

Hey guys,

Trust, in a relationship is really important if you want your relationship to survive through good times and the bad times. You can't get through life together if you don't have faith with your partner, right?

Building trust in a relationship can take time, it can take even more time rebuilding that trust a second time. I mean, come on, face facts, the first time around you give someone a really big benefit of the doubt. If they make a promise to you it takes a real leap of faith to let yourself open up and trust them, but if they break that trust, it can be almost impossible to do it again.

The reason for that is simple: they've already proven through their words or actions that they can't be trusted. The first time around you had no way of knowing one way or the other, but now you do. Now you know that they can't be trusted, why in the world would you set yourself up for that kind of hurt and pain again?

That is why it's so difficult to overcome any kind of cheating in a relationship. You know the old saying: "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me", that's the whole point. Few people would take such a big risk of being hurt by letting someone who has already proven that they can't be trusted, into their lives again.

It's best to make darn sure you don't do anything to make your partner lose their faith in you in the first place. I know, a lot of people may be thinking that that is easier said than done, but not really.

While it's true that sometimes you find yourself becoming attracted to someone you see on a day to day basis, someone that you may not be able to avoid seeing like a co-worker. In a case like that you just have to keep as much distance as possible and not allow yourself to spend more time with them, or spend time with them outside of work, than is absolutely necessary.

A lot of times though, we do it to ourselves. We'll see someone out at a club when we're with our friends and one thing leads to another and before you know it you've done the very thing you promised you'd never do. In cases like that, you're just a jackass.

Sorry, rough I know, but true. Just because you're out on your own for a night with friends is no excuse to hook up with someone. If you can't stay faithful for one night then you need to really spend some serious time figuring out what is wrong with you because that's not normal behavior.

Some will consider themselves 'the man' or a 'playa' but really those are just ways to make themselves feel better about their own shortcomings. A real man would live up to his word and if he promised his girl that he would be faithful than that's what he'd do... period.

And I'm not picking on guys, ladies the same exact thing applies to you. If you really want trust in a relationship make sure that you don't do anything to betray that trust. It's very hard to risk being hurt and open up and trust someone, it's virtually impossible to do it a second time when that person proves to you that they can't be trusted.

These are some of the tips you can use to build trust in a relationship. But, if you have broken that trust and want to learn how to re-build that trust again, then I recommend that you download the book, "Magic of Making Up" by T.W. Jackson.

Healing In Affair Relationships - Can They Really Last

Healing In Affair Relationships - Can They Really Last

Hello guys,

Affair in marriages do happen. But what do you do if you're in this situation? Can there be healing from affair? Can a marriage survive an affair?

Affair relationships, can they really last? If your relationship has started off as an affair and the two of you are wondering if you should leave your spouses and try to make a go of your relationship, you have to carefully consider the consequences of such an action.

It's very tough to keep a relationship going if it has started off by both of you lying and cheating. For one thing you're both going to have a real problem trusting each other. I mean, you both know that you've both cheated, how can you ever really be sure that you won't each cheat on each other?  Even if the two of you can overcome that, there are still all the other issues to consider.

For one thing, are there kids involved?  This is by far the hardest situation to work through. No one wants to hurt their kids and it will be virtually impossible for the kids to ever feel warm fuzzies for the person who broke their other parent's heart (at least that's the way the kids will see it. More than likely they'll let their cheating parent largely off the hook and blame the other man/woman).

Even if there aren't kids involved, you have to remember that this relationship is just like any other: it starts off hot and passionate, but can you keep that alive? Your marriage probably started off that way too and look where that is.

One of the biggest reasons the two of you felt so free in the first place was because you didn't share any responsibilities.  The day to day grind is almost always what slowly works it's way between couples and causes the problems. You have to be realistic enough to recognize that the very same thing will happen between the two of you over time. Your brand new 'soulmate' may not seem so brand new in five or ten years... just like your spouse.

Of course, having considered all of these facts there still remains one question you have to ask yourself, do you still love your spouse? If you can honestly say that you just don't feel love for your spouse (and I'm not talking about the fireworks, tingling toes feeling that always fades and changes in any relationship) than despite the pain it will cause you might be doing them a favor in the long run by leaving.

If it comes to that, it's best for everyone involved if you don't let them know that the catalyst for the breakup is your affair. That is one secret you should keep to yourself. Just let your spouse know that the marriage is over and be as compassionate as possible.

Affair relationships almost never work, but if the two of you have decided that even though you met in the wrong way, you still have a deep love for each other and that your marriages have been over for a long time, you might as well give it a go.  Just keep the fact that you've been together while you were still married to other people, between the two of you. No need to cause unnecessary pain.

If you like to read more on affair in marriage or about relationships then I suggest you download the book Magic of Making Up by T.W. Jackson. Download and read through it.

Your 6 Sure Fire Ways To Build Trust In A Relationship

Your 6 Sure Ways To Build Trust In A Relationship

Hey guys,

If there is one thing that is vital to any successful relationship, it's trust. It makes sense to do what you can to improve trust if you want to be a happy couple. The funny thing is that the things we often think will work end up having the opposite effect. So, what can you do? You can start by following any of the following six tips to help you build trust in a relationship.

1- "Spice things up?"

That's what your well-meaning friends will try to tell you do at the first sign of trouble. While this may work in some cases, it may not be the best course of action if you are trying to gain more trust. What often works is being predictable. That's because it goes hand in hand with expectations. It's easier to trust somebody if you have some idea of what they will do in certain situations. That's what we're talking about here. You don't have to be a boring, mindless machine, but do try to have some level of predictability.

2 - Congruity.

What's that? That's just a fancy way of saying that you should say what you mean and mean what you say. No matter how good you think you are at saying something, if you don't really feel that way your body language won't match. Criminologists who specialize in lie detection are trained to spot these incongruities. If they can do it, how much better will your partner be at it? After all, they know you much better. Nobody likes a phony. So be sure your body language matches your words if you want to build trust in a relationship.

3 - Give to get.

Ever wish your partner would trust you more? There's one sure way to make that happen, and it's by trusting them first. It doesn't matter if you think you're more trustworthy or not. It is incredibly difficult to trust somebody who doesn't trust you. Believe in your partner. Try to catch your significant other telling the truth, and also operate from the expectation that they are telling the truth in the first place. It will help, and keep things running more smoothly.

4 - Be an open book.

Keeping secrets is a form of dishonesty and is counterproductive to building trust. If it helps, assume your partner will find out eventually anyway; so they may as well learn the truth from you. Simple.

5 - What do you need?

Your partner isn't a mind reader. You have to be clear as to what your needs are, as to what you want, and so on. It's also important to assert yourself when you need to. Again, don't leave it to your partner to guess. They will usually be wrong and will lead to a loss of trust.

6 - Grow as a couple.

Just like a garden, a relationship needs the right kind of care and cultivation for it to be bountiful. Go through new experiences, good or bad, together. Be there for each other. By doing this you will deepen the level of trust in your relationship. Decide that it is indeed important to build trust in a relationship and work together to make it happen. You will be a stronger, happier couple as a result.

These are your 6 sure fire ways to build trust in a relationship. To read and learn more, I recommend that you download the book "Magic of Making Up" by T.W. Jackson. Affair in Marriage - Can a Marriage Really Heal After Infidelity?

Affair in Marriage - Can a Marriage Really Heal After Infidelity?

Hey guys,

Can you really heal and rebuild a marriage?

There will be healing that needs to be done together along with the healing of each individual. It can also bring back the intimate connection into your marriage.

One thing for sure,  if the affair is still going on or there is still any kind of contact even if it's not sexual there will be NO healing. The best way to do this is to have the wayward spouse send a certified no contact letter in their own handwriting to the affair partner.

An agreement must be made between them that all contact must end between the wayward spouse and the affair partner and it must be permanent. This MUST be done for there to be any healing in the marriage. Every time the agreement has been broken the wayward spouse must tell the betrayed spouse about it as soon as possible.

This will build some trust back up in your marriage if this is done every time. And, in this way everything that needs to be said can be with no interruptions and without adding or saying anything you don't want said. That's what you are clearly trying to avoid.

The wayward spouse should also state how much they have hurt you and how they are going to spend the rest of their life making it up to them.

If the wayward spouse does this just for his/her spouse and continues contact with the Affair Partner, then the Affair Partner won't take the No Contact Letter seriously.

So, the Wayward Spouse must stand firm and continually tell the Affair Partner how much he still loves his wife and wants to work on their marriage.

After the Wayward Spouse has finished the No Contact Letter, the Betrayed Spouse should read it, if it wasn't written together.

Here is an example of a "No Contact Letter":

Dear [put name here],

The relationship I had with you was thoughtless and cruel.

I am committed to my marriage and determined to make up for all the hurt I've caused my family.

Because of the terrible offense to my spouse and the damage I have done to our marriage, I am permanently ending all contact with you.

Please also respect my wish that you not attempt to contact me in any way at any time.

Sincerely,

[name here]

Wayward Spouse's are usually afraid to say and tell all, as they don't want to cause great pain for their spouse. What some Wayward Spouse's don't realize is that lying and lying by omission just causes more pain and trauma in the Betrayed Spouse making it feel like your both back to square one.

They have to know that they will not be attacked when disclosing any information. This is why it's a good idea, when first starting out with this and emotions are running very high, to do this in front of a counselor or marriage coach.

When full disclosure of the affair doesn't happen the trust and respect one for the other just never materializes. The affair will always be a wedge in the middle of their marriage. It has been found that not fully disclosing the affair details to the Betrayed Spouse that the Wayward Spouse stays emotionally attached to the Affair Partner. There is a much higher percent of the affair continuing or another affair happening later on.

It actually causes more damage to the Betrayed Spouse to find out bits of information later on, on their own. I believe that it needs to be written down on paper. The Betrayed Spouse should be able to ask questions and the Wayward Spouse should answer them with kindness and patience.

If you think you are going to explode with anger or be very upset, then STOP and walk away until you can begin again. The Betrayed Spouse did not make them do it (having the affair). That is the choice of the person getting involved in the affair and has nothing to do with what the Betrayed Spouse did or didn't do.

Now, the Betrayed Spouse should be responsible for some of the problems in the marriage and for taking it upon themselves to fix their parts in the breakdown of the marriage. This sometimes can be a very hard thing to actually believe. So, there are some things that should be done right away in repairing your marriage.

The big thing is to be totally honest with one another. Also, don't attack each other for how the other is feeling. Hide nothing!! Be an open book, both of you!

"I learned how to start trusting my wife again."

"You are a big help! You taught me how to take my wife's reassurance at face value and quit doubting her sincerity. After doing that I learned how to start trusting my wife again."

David Woodmansee

"...we are starting over with a clean slate"

I have been working for a long time trying to rebuild trust with my husband after his affair. He felt that just because he was sorry and wanted to work it out that I should IMMEDIATELY trust him again and stopped talking about the affair.

However I still had questions that were haunting me and could not move forward. Once he read your section on how to rebuild the trust, he understood more about what I needed from him!

It is amazing that some of the things mentioned in your section are exactly what I wanted to happen. Of course when I said it, he didn't give much thought to it but I guess seeing it in writing from an actual author made it real.

After reading just this one section and understanding what I needed from him my husband agreed to answer ANY question in regards to his affair that I had. Believe me it wasn't easy for either one of us to actually have to tell the truth about what happened on his part and for me to hear it.

But now for the first time I honestly feel like we are starting over with a clean slate.

Thank you Dr. Gunzburg!"

Nicole Williams
Oceanside, CA

"I feel more secure and feel that I can begin to trust him again."

"Building trust has been the biggest challenge for us and at times appeared to be impossible. The tips that you provided have been great because it has made my spouse understand my feeling s and needs better and I feel more secure and feel that I can begin to trust him again. Thanks!"

Lylla Childress
Cary, NY

"you made us more understanding, open and empathetic to each other."

"Dr. Gunzburg, you helped to restore the trust in my relationship by letting my spouse and myself both know what we were feeling and going through.

We learned that what we are feeling and going through is okay and part of the healing process and you also taught us what the other person is feeling and you made us more understanding, open and empathetic to each other.

You gave me hope to not to give up when we hit a rough patch, but to continue what we were doing and just keep communicating until that rough patch passed, which they do more easily and quickly now."

Rhonda Elkins
Baltimore, MD

Tips on Surviving Infidelity: Steps to Surviving, Coping and Forgiveness

Tips on Surviving Infidelity: The Next Steps to Surviving, Coping and Forgiveness

Hello guys,

You feel betrayed by someone You loved and trusted. Do you have these symptoms?

-Feeling massively depressed
-Feeling urges to spy on them
-Feeling deep surge of anger
-Endlessly rehearsing what you should have said
-Endlessly rehearsing what you will say to your partner
-Endlessly having images of them being together

The best way to describe what you are going to do is "surviving".

Often described as excruciating pain, since it hits you at your very core.

Here are some good news.

In order to be successful at surviving infidelity you are going to have to shift how you think about things.

This is often very difficult but extremely important.

As difficult as it is to believe, many initially feel embarrassment even though it was their spouse having the affair. Moreover, you will feel as if the marriage will magically be repaired.

You need to evaluate the signs of cheating and decide if you believe divorce from the infidelity is inevitable.

Do you want to save your marriage?

It is an important key in surviving infidelity to regain your mental and physical health while working on saving your marriage in a healthy thought out manner.

The good news is learning the indirect strategies work quite effectively at saving your marriage and relationship.

Click here and learn the step-by-step guide to surviving infidelity and affair in marriage. Yes! You can still save your marriage (if you want to).

It's not by magic or by chance, but usually, infidelity happens with the person we are close with and those whom we are mutually attracted to (i.e your close friend).

When you understand the one of the main reason causing infidelity, the first step to surviving infidelity is to know the importance of communication.

Pretending that something has not happened when it did is no different than running away from paying your parking fines.

Although it may be relatively easy to confront your partner regarding the affair, you can almost expect denial during your first confrontation. To overcome the affair and to survive it, honesty plays an equally important role to communication when it comes to confrontation between you and your partner.

However, the important point here to remember is that it is not the trust that ends your relationship but it is the lack of communication, the desire to care and a decreasing sense of importance. By trying to avoid communicating the problem between the both of you, it is almost equivalent to giving up on your current relationship.

If you have decided to continue pressing on with your current relationship, you should try to ask your partner to cut off any ties they have with the person related to their affair. Do this before going on further on resolving the conflicts.

To survive infidelity regardless of whether you are a victim or the cause, you should always remember that communication and honesty goes a long way.

If you have thought out that you really want to save your marriage and surviving infidelity then you should take a look at this system before you even think of seeking or going through couples counseling.

Affair in Marriage - How to Rebuild a Marriage

Affair in Marriage - How to Rebuild a Marriage

Hey guys,

Can a marriage survive an affair? Can you rebuild your marriage?

Your world has been devastated by infidelity, but you and your spouse, I'm pretty sure are working very hard to surviving infidelity, rebuild your marriage, rebuild trust after an affair and repair the damage as soon as possible.

The first step in the healing process, healing from an affair is to start building an affair- proof marriage that will prevent this sort of devastation from ever happening again in your relationship.

Let's face it, most of the affair or the betrayal usually occur not because a person intentionally wants to violate the sanctity of the marriage, to hurt their spouse feelings or to destroy their marriage.

An affair usually happens progressively - they may start out innocently enough but then one lie, however little, evolves into a huge explosion over time that can tear your marriage to shreds. Just like when you let a small fire becomes bigger and un-controllable.

To prevent an affair in marriage from ever happening again in the future, you can make a marriage deal that involves setting specific limits for your marriage - in other words, define what kind of behavior is acceptable and what behavior is not.

Have a frank discussion with your spouse and come to some sort of agreement between the two of you (and within yourself) that you will monitor your actions and do your utmost not to cross the boundaries that you've established.

So you need to build a fence so to speak, around the relationship. This not only ensures greater security in the area of trust problems, but encourages openness, sharing and communication about what is going on in the marriage.

Become sensitive to activities, actions and people that could endanger your marriage. Watch for potentially dangerous situations such as telephoning, e-mail, SMS, coffee, drinks, etc., which can lead to other things.

You also need to sit down as a couple and discuss appropriate boundaries that hopefully will never be crossed again.

To rebuild a marriage, healing from an affair, building an affair-proof relationships, especially after the infidelity can be difficult and may take some time to achieve. But, setting boundaries within your relationship helps complete the work you have done so far to rebuild honesty and trust in your marriage.

These are some of the tips you can follow after an affair in marriage.

Here's some testimonials on Dr. Frank Gunzburg system:

"I could have used this information early on."

"I would have liked to have had this information when I first learned about the affair. I could have used this information early on."

Doug Saylor
Snow Shoe, PA

"As I read the chapter I felt I could breathe."

"I like the way the material is presented in the chapter. My emotional state is very clouded with information, searching for answers, grasping at anything, trying to make sense, and feelings of defeat. This chapter was very well organized. As I read the chapter I felt I could breath and begin to understand what was happening to me. What I personally like best about this chapter is how it is presented. The simplicity and structure of information put things in perspective for me so that I could sort through my emotions and begin to understand."

Lori Ann Spinelli
Morganville, NJ

"I... like the fact that you do not condemn me for feeling that way."

"I liked the fact that you addressed the emotions that the injured feels. My husband has cheated on me about 3 times that I know of during the course of our 10 year relationship. I have felt every emotion that you named and could add bitterness as one. I also like the fact that you do not condemn me for feeling that way."

Nolita Jackson
Oxford, GA

"I could relate with all these stories."

The part I really liked was the real people telling their own stories, what they went through and what they are doing now to rebuilt their trust. I could relate with all these stories.

Laura Rubio
Greenvale, NY

"Oh my gosh, it described exactly what I went through."

"Oh my gosh, it described exactly what I went through. My husband and I are getting back together. They were together for 3 out of our 10 years, and I knew about it for 8 months. This has been VERY hard."

Stephanie Swafford
Frisco, TX

"Identifying my shortcomings has made me better understand myself"

"Even though we are still going through a very rough time in our marriage trying to cope with my past infidelities I'm stepping outside myself and realizing how inconsiderate, selfish and hurtful that I was not only to my wife, but to my children. Identifying my shortcomings has made me better understand myself and become a better husband, father and person."

Jimmy E Garren
Vancouver, WA

"It helped me know what to watch out for and avoid."

The section on 10 Destructive Habits was the best! It helped me know what to watch out for and avoid. It's very important to be forewarned of what a negative impact an action will have so you can prepare to stop it before it occurs. I will have to re-read it; perhaps several times to learn all the things that I feel will help. My initial reaction is that the whole chapter is full of useful information, much of which I hope I will have the opportunity to use. The 10 Destructive Habits that Demolish Trust and Tear Down Love was an excellent guide to what should and should not be done to attain the ultimate goal and purpose of behind reconciliation. If that is your goal than this is a very important guide to accomplishing it.

Gerald Leenheer
Loves Park, IL

"I particularly liked the 10 conversations and questions in each"

I think this chapter 6 was well written, carefully thought out and exceedingly clear. I particularly liked the 10 conversations and questions in each - definitely something to do to heal a relationship. It's a pity more couples don't start out this way.

A Max
Melbourne Australia

"It does work"

This is good information for me. It does work, and drastically reduces the tension in such situations. I am acting in a calmer manner.

Byron F. Sonday
Hammond, IN

".you laid out a plan for me to rebuild the trust with my wife."

"I appreciated how you laid out a plan for me to rebuild the trust with my wife. I really like your information on the 5 Building Blocks for having a transparent relationship and learned how I am guilty of doing the 10 Destructive Habits that tear down my relationship."

R Smith
